Toronto Underground Market

Toronto Underground Market also known as "TUM" is Canada's 1st social food market designed to support and promote Toronto's growing food entrepreneurs, home cooks and chefs by testing new food ideas.

They have been running this event for 3 years now and just announced that on Saturday September 27th it's going to be their last one, but don't worry they have something else up their sleeve for the future. To celebrate their last event they will feature old favourite vendors such as Rock Lobster, La Carnita and Hotbunzz and many more.

I have been to this event a few times and it's a great excuse for a date night. It's 19 + because they serve alcohol so get a babysitter and come out and try some really great good. Tickets are $14.99 a person which you can purchase here.  Once you are inside there is over 20 different food vendors, craft beer and local wine vendors that sell there dishes between $2-$8 each. No credit cards or debit cards are accepted- it's a cash only event. They will have an ATM machine on site just in case you forgot to bring some money. This event is going to be held at 99 Sudbury Street in Toronto. Doors open at 5pm.

Here are some of the vendors that will be there along with what they will be serving:

Ryan's Big Boy Room!

Back in August I wrote a post on my daughter's nursery and how I moved my son into the spare bedroom. Well, I finally finished decorating his big boy room so, I thought I would share it with you.

He loves boats so we went with a nautical theme. Luckily, we started decorating his room early because it took a lot of time finding all the decor. Don't you hate when you can't find something you're looking for, but then the minute you stop looking, you see it everywhere? Ugh! That's what was happening to me- so annoying!

It took us a while to decide whether or not we wanted to go with a single or double bed. In the end, we decided on a double bed so he would have more room and grow into it. We took the box spring out for now so he would be lower to the ground just in case he falls out. We also added a pillow to each side of the bed underneath the sheets for more protection.

Underneath the duvet cover he has cute little sailboat sheets- sorry I forgot to take a picture of them.

He sleeps with that shark pillow every night- so cute!

This book shelf is amazing. It's a bit pricey, but so worth the investment.  It doesn't take up any space in his room, and every night he loves grabbing his own books that he wants us to read to him.

All the pictures in the frames are taken by yours truly. My sister lives by the lake in Pickering, so one day in the summer we met up for a play date, and I went around taking pictures of all the boats docked on the bay. One neat shot is her on a dock walking with my son and her daughter. Very personalized and a nice memory..

I am still thinking about it, but I might add some blue and white curtains and also some fishing nets to his room. If I do, I will be sure to update this post to show the changes.

Inspired by Callie's Shop + Giveaway!

Did you or someone you know just have a baby? If so, check out Inspired By Callie's Shop on Etsy for some unique handmade finds!

Inspired by Callie was created by a lady named Hilary. While she was anxiously waiting for her little girl to arrive, she kept busy by getting out her sewing machine (that she had never used before), and learned how to use it! She always loved receiving handmade baby gifts so she decided to create some unique things for herself.

She started by making receiving blankets for herself and friends because she found homemade ones are much nicer and more personal than those you buy in a baby store. After encouragement from friends and family, she decided to invest in some quality, fun, cute fabric and supplies and open an Etsy shop which she named after her daughter called "Inspired  by Callie"

Here are some of the items she sells:

Got a baby that is teething? These wooden teething rings have no harsh chemicals, finishes, paints, lacquers or stains.
The ‘ears’ are made of cotton and terry cloth which can be easily removed for washing.
Natural Wooden Teething Ring- $11 CAD

I hate when my baby's toys fall on the ground, so this toy leash is great for avoiding that. Attach one end to the toy and the other end to any car seat, high chair, stroller etc.
Toy Leash, Sippy Cup Leash, Sophie Saver- $9 CAD

How many pacifier's have you lost? I know, I have gone through a ton! The metal clip attaches easily to clothes to prevent your baby spitting it out and having it fall on the ground. Plus, it will always be attached to their clothing so it will never get lost.
Pacifier Clip- $5 CAD

Winter is unfortunately coming soon, so stock up on these adorable flannel blankets which make a perfect car seat blanket!  They measure approximately 42” x 34”
Flannel Baby Blanket- $15 CAD

Speaking about Winter. Check out the Infinity Scarfs! They are approximately 70'' long and perfect for fall and winter.
Navy Anchors and Stripes Infinity Scarf- $20 CAD

All of these items come in different fabric designs. There is also an option to mulit buy to decrease the price or you can make a custom order by picking your own fabric!

Inspired by Callie ships to Canada and the US. To place an order go to her Esty shop HERE. Also check out her Facebook page HERE

Chalkboard Sign from Harpers Haols

So if you remember in my last post (SEE HERE) I talked about my order from Mabel's Labels for my son for preschool this week. Well, I decided to also get him a chalkboard sign to hold for his 1st day of school picture on Tuesday. Of course I thought about doing this such last minute, so at midnight on Friday, I started searching Etsy to see if I could find someone to create one in such a short amount of time.

I came across Harpers Halos. Tamara has a store on Etsy with several pre-made chalkboard designs. I emailed her right away, and she replied very quickly and said she would be able to work with my deadline. Since all of her designs are already pre-designed, all you have to do is purchase the design you like.  Then in the notes at the payment section add in the details you want on your chalkboard (ie. Name, Age, School, etc) It was so easy!

Once she has completed your order she will then send you a proof to approve. After it has been approved you then take the high resolution image to your local copy store to print it! That's it! You're done! What's great about printing it yourself is that there is no shipping charge!

Harpers Halos does all kinds of chalkboard designs. Not only does she do first day of school signs she also does birthday's & baby announcements. Here are some of my favourites:

First Day of School Chalkboard Sign- $5.59 CAD. Comes in Sizes 8 x 10, 11 x 14, 16 x 20

Birthday Chalkboard Sign- $16.77 CAD Comes in Size 16. x20

Pregnancy Announcement Chalkboard Sign- $5.59 Comes in Sizes: 8 x 10, 11 x 14 and 16 x 20

In addition to chalkboard signs she also sells headbands and clip sets. They come in sizes according to age, so make sure you specify which size you would like at checkout. Unfortunately, at this time she only ships to the US, so for all my Canadian followers it's a sad day :( Hopefully in the future she will start shipping to Canada because I want a bunch!! Headbands start at $4.47 US

Here are some of my favourites.

If you are interested in purchasing something from Harpers Halos- Tamara has generously provided a coupon code for you to use at her Etsy Shop. At checkout use code - NEWFAN for 10% off!!

She also has a Facebook page (SEE HERE) if you want to follow her

Happy Shopping!!!
