Our Visit to Crock A Doodle + Giveaway!!

This winter has been horrible - especially February!! That's why I am always looking for fun and different things to do in doors to get my son out of the house. This way, he isn't sitting in front of the TV all day. While browsing on line, I came across this amazing place called Crock A Doodle!

Crock A Doodle is a pottery painting studio that's great for all ages. What's great about this place is that you can just drop in anytime- no reservations required.

Once you arrive, you head over to the pottery shelf to pick a piece of pottery of your choice. All the pieces have the prices marked on the bottom, so you know how much the item costs before hand. Pieces range from $6 and up, so it's perfect for all budgets.

One thing I liked, is that they have some examples beside each piece. This gives you an idea as to which colours to use,  what would look good, and also what the finish product will look like, once it's glazed & kiln-fired.

My son is still obsessed with sharks, so once he saw they had a shark I knew that was the one he would choose.

After your have chosen your piece, you sit down at your table and pick your paint palette. You can choose up to 6 colours from their Funstrokes- fleckles or simplicity glazes. The Fleckles paint is pretty neat as it leaves little "fleckles" on your pottery piece.

Once you have finished painting your piece, you add your child's name and date on the bottom and leave it to be professionally glazed & kiln-fired. Then, they take down your contact information and once it's ready for pick up they give you a call.

Does your child have a birthday coming up? If so, Crock A Doodle also hosts birthday parties in a private room located in the studio or they can come to you!

They also have ladies nights and corporate events as well!

My Review on Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion

So many people don't consider any kind of makeup primer - I was actually one of those people up until a few years ago. To be honest, I was cheap- I never wanted to spend the money. I thought my foundation and eyeshadow looked good enough without adding a primer, so why bother? Right?

Well, one day I finally bit the bullet and gave Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion a try. Now I can officially tell you I will never go back and not use a primer! It makes such a difference.

The Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion comes in 3 shades- Sin, Eden, and Original which is the one I use. Original goes on invisible and makes your eyeshadow more vibrant and never creases or smudges . It also lasts 24 hrs.

As you can see, a little goes a long way. This is how much I use for both eyes. I just squeeze a pea size amount onto one of my fingers. Then I rub two fingers together and place it all over each eye. Finally, I give it a few seconds to dry before adding any eyeshadow to my eye lids.

In this picture below, I am wearing my eyeshadow for 13 hrs!! I did a before and after shot to show you how it looked first thing in the morning and at night, but it would of looked like I just duplicated the picture because it looked the exact same!! I promise you will not be disappointed with this product. It's so worth the investment.

If you just want to try it out and see how you like it, the Original shade comes in a travel size as well.

You can purchase Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion at Sephora either on line HERE or in stores.

Bloor-Yorkville Icefest 2015

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, check out Bloor- Yorkville Icefest. It's FREE and great for the whole family. Each year they have a different theme. Last year was "Heat Wave" - a tropical theme. This year, it's "Frozen in Time"- ancient Egyptian-inspired showcase of striking carvings

Fine restaurants and retailers in the neighbourhood will be serving hot drinks, soups, crepes and more to all visitors. (prices may vary)

If you feel like going at night, I heard all the ice sculptures are all lit up which would look so pretty!

Here are our pictures from last year to get an idea of what to expect:

They have a great area for kids. Smaller ice sculptures for them to look at, including cute little chairs made out of ice to sit in. You can also purchase an "ice kiddie cube" for $2 each day at 2pm, which has a collectable toy inside for your child. As you can see from the pictures below, my son had so much fun trying to get his car out of the ice cube. What's great is that all funds go to The Heart and Stroke Foundation.

They also have live ice carving demonstrations at certain times throughout the weekend.  It's so fascinating to watch- they are so talented.

If you go on Saturday, starting at Noon, they will have an Ice Carving Competition as well as 3 draws to win prize packages valued up to $2,750!! You can vote for your favourite ice carving sculpture from the competition between 2- 5pm.

For more information on the Bloor-Yorkville Icefest check out their website HERE. They have a great map online that you can print out with all the points of interest including places to park. We used it last year and it helped out a lot.

Don't forgot to bring your camera!
