Creating an Ice Cream Parlor Birthday Party

On June 5th, we celebrated my daughter's 2nd birthday with family and friends. Since she loves ice cream so much, we thought having an ice cream party would be perfect! I found these cute ice cream parlor invitations on Etsy, and printed them on card stock paper from Staples.

Creating all the décor for the party was super easy and very inexpensive.

For the colours I decided to go with light pink, purple and yellow with an accent of light green. I purchased the balloons from Party City, and had them bunch them in sets of 3, in the theme colours. I also requested them to be table height. I also purchased the light green table clothes, and light purple plates from Party City as well since I couldn't find those particular colours at the dollar store. The other pink and yellow plates I bought at Dollar Tree.

I turned all the plates into ice cream cones by just cutting triangles out of brown cardstock paper I purchased at Michaels, and taped them to the back of each plate. (I used a 40% off coupon too!)

I also made mini ice cream cones for décor on the tables. I just used the same brown card stock paper as the cone, and found some coloured doilies in the theme colours for the tops.

For the dessert table, I created a fun Sundae Bar. Everyone loved it! I purchased 5 different types of ice cream flavours so I had a variety for people to choose from. I got pink and white striped cups from Dollarama, and 2 types of ice cream cones.

For the toppings I had, mini mm's, sprinkles, skor bits, reese's pieces chips, crushed oreo cookies, marshmallows, jelly beans, fruit and cherries. I also had hot fudge, carmel sauce and whipped cream.

I purchased water bottle labels from Etsy that said 'I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream"

I also made ice cream cone cupcakes too! They were very simple to do. You just add cake mix to each ice cream cone and bake them until they're done. Then, I just added icing to the tops.

My sign was very easy to make too. I bought 2 black boards, and a white chalk pen from Dollar Tree. Then I made up a list of items that you could buy at the ice cream parlor. Of course since it was the "Grand Opening"- everything was FREE! lol!

To make these larger ice cream cones, I just used the same brown card stock paper from Michaels, and pink and purple pom poms that I found at Dollarama for the tops! They come in 2 sizes- pack of 2 small ones or just 1 large one.

I saw these on Pinterest and thought they would be cute to make. I just toasted a few eggo waffles, cut them into triangles and added strawberries on top. It was a neat way to display the fruit as another topping for their ice cream. I had strawberry and banana ones.

For the loot bags, I picked up medium size white paper bags from Dollar Tree that came in a pack of 2. With the extra doliy ice cream cones that I made for the tables, I thought it would be cute to add them to the front of the loot bags. Then I just picked up the 3 colours of tissue paper from the Dollarama.

All the kids had a blast! They were all so excited to pick their flavour of ice cream and go crazy on the toppings.

We also rented a play gym in the community centre for the kids. So, after lunch and dessert, they all got to run around and have fun for an hour.

What a great day! My daughter had a blast! Seeing her so happy makes everything worth while.
